A bump stock is a recoil operated simulation of full auto. Al so do is set your finger the right distance from the trigger after firing the first time and the recoil of the rifle as it jumps back and then forward will pull the trigger again. With an AR, that is about 600 rounds a minute. I've heard it takes a lot of practice to get good at but I've never actually fired one. I see bump stocks and all kinds of other methods to achieve full-auto "legally" all the time at gun shows. I always thought about getting something but then thought "nah, I don't have any place to shoot a full auto anyway" so I never did.
I am about as conservative and pro-gun as it gets. I own a fucking arsenal including a very nice AR with a 18" SS Greenmountain barrel that will put bullets less than 0.25 inches apart at 100 yards. My best group was 0.17 inches. I am also a proud member of the NRA and I hunt as often as I can get the time; sometimes with a bow but I will hunt blackpowder and rifle too.
I don't say all that just to brag but to let you know that I'm not just some closet lib talking out of my ass.
Full auto is nopt illegal but it is tightly regulated for a fucking reason. If you want full auto then fill out the damn paperwork; pay your money and put up with the visits from the ATF. No state in the USA allows you to hunt with full auto. It's only purpose is to shoot for the sheer joy of it or to kill as many people in the shortest amount of time possible. Would I like to shoot a full auto? You bet your ass I would. That shit looks fun as hell. Do I NEED a full auto; no I don't. Bump stocks and other full auto sims pervert the spirit of the regulations on full auto firearms. They should be illegal.
How many times have we as pro-gun people jeered at the gun grabbers and said "we don't need new laws; just enforce the ones we have and it would fix the problem". This is one of those rare exceptions. We do need a new law. Just one. One that puts these sims in the same category as other full auto weapons. Class III. When they're right, they're right. Have the balls and personal responsibility to back the law I know is already making it's way through Congress. Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then...Comment

Las Vegas Gunman Chased Gambling’s Payouts and Perks
LAS VEGAS — The video poker machines that Stephen Paddock liked were the ones that did not draw attention. They had few look-at-me flashing lights or listen-to-me bells.
He would sit in front of them for hours, often wagering more than $100 a hand. The way he played — instinctually, decisively, calculatingly, silently, with little movement beyond his shifting eyes and nimble fingers — meant he could play several hundred hands an hour. Casino hosts knew him well.
“Not a lot of smiles and friendliness,” said John Weinreich, who was an executive casino host at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, Nev., where Mr. Paddock was once a regular and where he met his girlfriend. “There was not a lot of body movement except for his hands.”
His methodical style and his skill level allowed him to gamble, and occasionally win, tens of thousands of dollars in one sitting, collecting payouts and hotel perks in big bunches. Last week, as a reward for his loyalty and gambling, Mr. Paddock stayed free of charge on the 32nd floor in one of the elite suites of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, one of his favorite places to play.
On Sunday night, using an arsenal of rifles he secretly shuttled in and shooting through windows he broke, Mr. Paddock, 64, sprayed gunfire into a concert crowd across South Las Vegas Boulevard. When it was over, 58 people were dead, plus Mr. Paddock, who killed himself in the room as police teams moved in. About 500 were injured by bullets or in the panic to escape the barrage.
That the attack was launched from a glassy tower of one of Las Vegas’s most prestigious casinos was not a coincidence. A defining aspect of Mr. Paddock’s life involved gambling, and he hungered for the kinds of rewards that only the Las Vegas Strip could provide.
Just three days before he opened fire from the Mandalay Bay, he was seen playing video poker in its casino.

the cops can't agree on a time line, they said the security guard was shot at after the mass shooting now they say he was shot before the mass shooting. mandalay bay disagrees with what the cops are saying about times. isn't there security cameras that can show the exact time the security guard was shot? what about the security guard, what is he saying? this shit is weird.Comment

some people saying that he had lost a lot of money in the months leading up to this shooting and even though he had money in his accounts the bills he had pilling up may have been more then he had. multiple media organizations are now filing lawsuits against the las vegas police department because of all the information they refuse to release. doesn't look good for vegas if it turns out that a gambling addiction and money loss actually led to this guys breaking point. there is speculation that the big money in vegas is working hard at keeping this story off the radar.
