  • Chief of Staff General Kelly

He's gotta be the best thing about the Trump administration by a fucken mile. Everytime I see him speak I am impressed and I'm not impressed by very many people. Humble yet he commands respect without even trying. I'd take him as President all day.

He's a modern day Douglas McArthur. We need more of these guys.

It's ashame he has to try and constantly clean up the pumpkin idiots mess.

Not sure wtf he was talking about with women being sacred comment. LoL. Women were absolutely not respected at all back in the day. Aside from that I love what he said and how he said it.

Not sure how I feel about that congresswoman who listened in on the call. That's a bitch move IMO. Definitely political to listen to the call and then make it public what was said. I'm no fan of trump but what she did is pretty disgusting IMO.

She was in the car or whatever when the widow of the soldier put the call on speaker phone. What's she supposed to do, close her ears?

This is one case where if you are the administration, regardless of what was said, even if the family misinterpreted the words or intent or whatever of Trump, you say my fault, and move on.

Trump (or anyone in his administration) could jump in front of scrum and take a bullet for him and he would whine about how he should have jumped differently. lol It's so true. There were definitely republicans that did the same when Obama in in office. But they are so extreme in their views that they will never point out anything good. Always the bad.

she just happened to be in the car at the moment he called? something is off about that bro. i'm thinking the family was told Trump would be calling at a certain time and then told the congresswomen. Why did she have to run over to listen with them even if she was invited? Aside from that, why did she have to go public with it? Have you seen this woman? I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and I know this isn't all that relevant but shes a congresswomen who wears cowboy hats with huge loop earrings and other whacky shit. Seems like a bit of a nutter. Bottom line I dont like how she handled this. With that said, Trump not being able to ignore her is once again another sign of how immature and incompetent he is.

I think this is another case where this administration picks a fight where one isn't necessary. They should have just said look, this is what the president said, we're sorry it came out wrong, this is what we meant, we apologize unequivocally, and move on. It would have been gracious, everyone would have accepted it and this would have been a non story.

But once again, Trump cannot say sorry to anything. He's got to double down and pick a fight that he has no chance of winning, at least in the area of public opinion.

agree to a point. he is so extreme left that I don't think he can give an unbiased view.

BUT. you and rip are so extreme right that you guys cannot give an unbiased view either.

i'm the only one here who seems to be in the middle. I can give credit to both sides when it's deserved and I can also point out critical flaws when they are made.

in other words you are all biased fucks. :D

Chadd, I would love to point out anything good that this administration has done so far. Please point them out to me.

I didn't care for Bush because he got us into Iraq, but I will give him credit for a lot of good things he did for wildlife conservation. He created several national wildlife refuges and marine national monuments. I'm liberal and will of course have policy differences with Republican administrations but I'm objective about my criticism.

that's pretty much what Chief of Staff Gen Kelly did yesterday. Clean up after trumps mess. But I don't think he should apologize. I genuinely believe Trump was trying his best to do the right thing with that call. The fact that the family and that congresswoman were waiting for the call and then took it public tells me they set him up to fail because they know he has trouble with words and often says something that comes across th wrong way. in this case I think he was trying to do something nice and those people were waiting to attack in a sense.

I do not like Trump at all. But if I had to vote again for either him or Hillary I would vote for him. I do wish we had another Republican in office. I also agree for the most part with you on gun rights. I want to protect the 2nd amendment but am all for closing any background check loopholes and doing anything possible to keep them out of criminals hands. I can give credit when credit is due but you will NEVER hear scrum say anything positive about Trump.

"I don't think he should apologize."

See, that's precisely the problem. In this case, apologize is precisely what he should have done. Not getting into a pissing match with a gold star family, REGARDLESS of who was at fault. There's no way to come out looking good by playing the blame game with a widow who just lost her husband and is pregnant with their child.
