But remember, the only way for a country to get better is by critically examining itself for flaws. I'm not wrapping myself in any flag either. I don't really like the concept of "patriotism" because I believe it creates an inability to see the viewpoint of anyone else.

But you also seem to have issues in seeing the viewpoint of anyone else. You've admitted that you are extreme left. Being "extreme" anything is akin to being patriotic in that you have an inability to even try to see a different perspective because you are so firmly rooted in your beliefs.

I am a progressive. That means that I believe government has an important role to play in the welfare fo the people. I know that it is not a popular opinion around here, but that's what I believe. But that has nothing to do with climate change, with supporting science. It certainly has something to do with social issues. I believe that universal healthcare is a right, not a privilege and I don't mind paying extra to enable that.

That being said, show me where I have been rigid in my beliefes in the face of evidence. I may disagree on things but I'm not holding any position that flies in the face of evidence or reason.

And I agree with you in many aspects of the debates we have had over the years. I can see the viewpoints of rip, turbo, and yourself. Sometimes I side with you, sometimes I side with them. I have no allegiance to the right or the left. I side with what makes sense to me.

But as an example. I'm sitting here saying over and over again how I agree with you on the Paris agreement and how I think trump is a dipshit on multiple levels and you keep trying to hammer home that I think America can do no wrong. You are literally making things up to try and paint a picture of my view that just isn't true.

These are the type of headlines posted there. It’s just a giant liberal circle jerk where where people post headlines like this and get each other outraged. This is no different than Fox News. The extreme left and the extreme right are the same at the end of the day and they spend their life looking for headlines to get outraged over.

The sanity is somewhere closer to the center. It sounds to me like you are getting sucked into one of the extremes. I hope you take this constructively and don’t blow up on me.

Actually, I don't. But now that you mention it, I vaguely remember that r/ convention. Never been on reddit except on occasion when you or someone else posts a link here to some specific page. It's just too messy for me. Reminds me of Usenet.

I read Alternet. I read and watch Democracy Now. I read the Guardian and various newspapers from various countries in Europe and Haaretz in Israel. I read Al Jazeera's English twitter feed. I get my news from various sources. I'm not some guy who's going to get indoctrinated. I've been doing science and critical thinking since I left home at 17.

I didn't say I don't know what Reddit is. I said I haven't used Reddit. I've been on it but I don't care for the format. Like I said, it reminds me too much of Usenet and I spent a lifetime on it since the early 80s when I started college.

I can't stand reddits format either. Not a user freindly UI at all. I've maybe visited it 2 or 3 times and found it to be far to frustrating to use.

As for the topic at hand, what is the difference if we are in the Paris agreement or not if the Trump admin won't follow it anyway? Useless words on paper at that point. He's going to suck eggs at giving a shit regardless of a non binding agreement or not.
