well... overall, i'd give it the middle finger! they pushed the story way too fast IMO. i understand it's a miniseries, but c'mon. the space battle scenes were well done. the "tin-can" cyclons were kinda cool looking... hoper there's more of them in the other episodes. all the actors are lame. i actually liked the Starbuck chick though. she did a good job overall... she was the most convincing as being "real". everyone else seemed to be a struggling actor and now you know why. yes, even that olmos dude was doing a shitty job. no enthusiasm whatsoever.

I don't consider very many shows to be 'must-see TV' anymore. For me, the only shows I never miss are American Chopper and The Shield.

Ok here is my take on it,as a modern age sci-fi flick it was pretty decent,good special effects and the space battles were pretty good,if I wasn't a big fan of the original I would appreciate this miniseries more but as a fan,it doesn't feel like battlestar galatica,the characters weren't appealing like the original series,here is my opinion on the characters.

Apollo-I don't like the new apollo whatsoever,he comes off as a jerk and an arrogant cocky asshole,sorry but the original one played by Richard Hatch was much better,he made you appreicate the character more in the original,the original Apollo was a firm leader,he actually cared about everyone around him the new version,he makes you want to hate him so bad it's not even funny,he comes off an unfeeling idiot who just worries about his own feelings and not others around him I would love to see a cylon blow his ass out of the sky,I don't like this new version at all.

Starbuck-Ok I admit that this verson of Starbuck is cool,she's got starbuck's cigar smoking and gambling down but Starbuck to me wasn't anti-authority,she is a team player like the original one so that's a plus overall this wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Adama-This version of Adama to me is totally an insult to Lorne Green's version,this new version has no emotion whatsoever(might as well be a cylon),he comes off as a hardass sometimes,unlike the original version,he's too demanding and doens't seem to concerned with others around him unlike the original.

Boomer-Unlike Starbuck I have a problem with Boomer being a woman,don't get me wrong,she's hot but come on Boomer was a cool bro in the original series,he was always interacted with the crew of the galactica,this version doesn't seem like that plus she seems like she doesn't have confidence in her ablities like the original version,always worries about certain things,this doesn't work for me like the change in Starbuck so this too is a negetive feeling for me.

Baltar-Ok so is Baltar a villian in this version or his he some sort of egotistical coward,I say he's the latter,if you are going to do a remake you want to get as close as to the original version and they screwed up big time with the characters and this is no expection,the original made you want to hate him because he was evil and sadistic,he was a traitor that turned his back on the colonies for his own benefit and alligned himself with the cylons,this version makes you want to hate him because he's egocentric and a coward all rolled in one,Baltar is supposed to be a villian not like this jerk,two thumbs down on this one too.

President Laura Roslin-Hmmmmmm I don't know what to think of her,she seems to emotional and not focused enough to be in the position she's in,kinda weak character that seems like she was thrown in for some sort of supporting character role,I think she's less important to the story then they would like us to believe.

Number Six-Now this is a villian,sexy,beautiful and evil for a human like robot,she does a great job of presenting human qualities for a character that's supposed to be devoted of all emotions,she's a robot but doesn't make you believe that she is,probably the only character that adds some quality to the bleak characters that are already presented.

And the CGI cylons are cool looking,but I really don't think that they will be a major impact on the overall story and that's what is going to be sad about this whole miniseries,the appeal that made the original a perfect show was not only the characters that were human in quality but the villians were also cool,the cylons in the original seriers were awesome,the way they looked and sounded made you wished you didn't have to run into them in a dark alley on caprica lol but that was the major quality of the show,the humans vs the robotic cylons but it looks like that won't be the case with this miniseries.

If I wasn't a fan of the original,then I probably would have liked it very much but I am a fan and the characters of the new miniseries are way way off base from the original,I can understand that the writers wanted a version of their own but come on now,your remaking a classic sci-fi series and your making changes like this,give me a break,it just doesn't work like that.

so you gonna finish the series? i'm gonna sit through it. i fgure it's has to be mostly space battle from here on out as they're leaving earth now. as for the characters, i totally agree with you on every point except for 6... i think she blows too, maybe really well at that ;) anyways, what did she do to the baby? tear a finger off or something? as for baltar... i think they're just trying to work up his background so the audience will still hate him in the end as before.
