The mom may not have issues with it but that shows her ignorance (not stupidity, those are different things altogether) to the bigger issue. The term is offensive because it originated when one human held another human hostage and used them for manual labor and treating them even less than animals. I do not think its a big deal... lets say for example you go out and see some kids that are colored and have the same type of logo on or some rainbow type shit.. would people pay attention or giving give a fuck..
