  • Another imminent government shutdown

Countdown is at 8 hours. While it doesn’t impact my job since I’m in the private sector, a lot of jobs in my area are in the public sector, including several friends and family members.

So who do you think Is to blame for the shutdown? The democrats for refusing to budge about DACA and placing immigration reform on the top of their list over everything else? Or the republicans since they hold the majority in the House, Senate and White House and won’t side with the majority of Americans on the immigration policy?

Majority of Americans on the immigration policy? The majority want illegals pouring across the boarder? The majority support sanctuary cities?

The majority of Americans support some kind of deal for the "dreamers."

The dreamers I agree. From what I understand they are good kids and the program is pretty strict. They have to keep up certain grade point average, no criminal activity etc.. is that right?

Not sure about the details, but yeah, they have to be clean. In school, no criminal activity, etc.

Yea I'm okay with the dreamers already here. But that doesn't mean we should send out the signal that as long as you make here by breaking the law we will let all your kids live here illegally. There has to be a line drawn in the sand.

Dems and Repubs should work out a deal instead of shutting shit down. It's both their fault. It's called compromise. But both parties are just looking for votes and trying to save face.

The program is basically designed to keep the people most likely to contribute positively to the American society. It’s shown to decrease those living in poverty and increases the use of otherwise unavailable resources. It’s not directly tied with positive impacts on the economy but I’m sure it would over a longer period of time.

Yea I'm fine with them. But moving forward they've got to do it legally. Otherwise all Mexican parents will come here and say "here's my kids, they didn't break the law I did". We can't keep allowing that.

Bottom line...this is about funding the country. To put dreamer act in it is a political play period. It doesn't even expire untill some time in March. It's about a short term pay check to keep government functional...not an immagration policy

They want it to be included to ensure funding in any future bill.

Democrats are not the majority party. It us up to the Republicans who control the House, Senate and the White House to put forward a bill that is reasonable that can get enough Dem votes to pass. That's how it works. Problem is, GOP cannot put forward anything reasonable.

Well, actually there was a compromise proposal that Lindsey Graham and a Dem senator (can't remember his name) took to Trump last week. It was a compromise proposal but Trump shot it down.

I see how you look at it...yet you refuse to see the Dems are playing political games...if the get daca...the feel they win...stopped Trump...if the don't n shut government down...they blame rep. N Trump.. be real...the whole thing is not needed in a short term budget bill...this is what's wrong with both sides...they all want something to claim a win for themselves...not doing what's right for the country. Daca don't expire untill March...it has no business in a SHORT TERM BUDGET BILL... Be real for once
