  • Neuengamme Concentration Camp

The*Neuengamme concentration camp*was a*German concentration camp, established in 1938 by the*SS*near the village of*Neuengamme*in the*Bergedorf*district of*Hamburg,*Germany. It was operated by the*SSfrom 1938 to 1945. Over that period an estimated 106,000 prisoners were held at Neuengamme and at its subcamps. 14,000 perished in the main camp, 12,800 in the subcamps and 16,100 during the last weeks of the war on evacuation marches or due to bombing. The verified death toll is 42,900.[1]After Germany's defeat in 1945, the British Army used the site until 1948 as an internment camp. In 1948, the facility was transferred to the Hamburg prison authority which tore down the camp huts and built a new prison cell block. After being operated as two prisons by the Hamburg authorities from 1950 to 2004, and a period of uncertainty, the site now serves as a memorial. It is situated 15*km southeast of the centre of Hamburg.

scary shit. we all know the story of WW2 but just imagine what it must of been like as a Jew in Germany during that time. the day to day life even if you weren't caught. imagine hiding in some basement wondering when the SS will kick in your door and drag you to your death. can't imagine what that must have been like.

Yea. She would go on and tell me the negative energy and she felt like crying.. she is a sensitive one.. I told her those were souls you were feeling...
Reminds me of "the boy in the striped pajama "...
I know we joke around bout Nazis and shit, but I would not want to live in those days as a Jew... your time was up

i'm not sure i believe in the souls thing. but i can definitely understand there being a "negative energy" type of vibe going on. it's like visiting Gettysburg PA. big civil war battle where 20 something thousand men died in a matter of hours. i visited on a school trip when i was a kid. it's all beautiful country side but even as a kid there was an "ugly" feeling in the air.

Yeah, that's an old thread and back then, I had out my images on Imageshack. I'll have to reupload to a different site and fix the broken links. Will do it on Sunday- on the road next 2 days.
