I would have no issues stomping this fuck into the mud...:agreed:

A California high school teacher and local politician is being investigated after a student clandestinely recorded his apparent anti-military rant.

Administrators at a high school in Pico Rivera, Calif., east of Los Angeles, are looking into comments Councilman Gregory Salcido allegedly made to his students.

"Think about the people you know who are over there [in the military]. They're your freaking stupid Uncle Louie or whatever," Salcido said, according to the audiotape.

"They're dumb [expletives]. They're not high level bankers, they're not academic people, they're not intellectual people," he said. "They're the freaking lowest of the low."

The student who recorded Salcido's rant said he did so because he found the comments offensive as the son and nephew of veterans.

According to Salcido's government biography, he served as the city's mayor in 2002, 2010 and 2015.

The bio said Salcido credits his students as a "constant reminder that keeping a positive and optimistic disposition is necessary for a productive future."

i'd have to actually hear it before making a judgment on what was actually said in context. hard time believing a teacher would say that with the high likelihood of some of his students having family members in the service. this could be a case of a student out to get his teacher and recording something completely out of context. don't be so quick to believe anything the media puts out there rip. fake news is a very real thing on both sides.

now, if we take this at face value and just assume this teacher said this. for one he's not completely wrong. if you take the average soldier, (not officers) just the standard grunt, they typically are not people that have all kinds of opportunities in life, they typically are not the smartest group of people statistically. there are obviously many exceptions but I'm talking about in general. you usually don't turn down a full scholarship at Harvard to join the Army. most of these kids don't see many other options. that's just the truth, i'm not talking shit.

now with all that said. to have this attitude of the military that they are the "lowest of the low" and "freaking dumb" is definitely an ignorant attitude to have. it's no different from saying "blacks are stupid". when you put an entire group of people in a single category you are a moron.

There is a video on fox of the teacher saying everything their accusing him of but no visual of him in the video. Just his voice. I believe he said it all and will most likely confess in time. Even if he feels that way he should keep it to himself. This is not the time for ANYONE to say shit like that. I bet $$ ole boy will end up going in hiding in fear for his life watch.

I just saw more of it on the news. Heard his voice and he didn't deny it in his facebook comment. All he said was "people have the right of freedom of speech".

He was also placed on leave in 2012 for striking a student.

With this new info I think it's safe to say he needs a smack in the fucken mouth. The tone in which he said it was angry and personal. This was not some kind of academic experiment taken out of context. He was angry at a student for wearing military style clothing. This is absolutely unacceptable. He should be fired.

P.S. I'd love to see him make those comments with the same gusto in a room full of Marine, Army, Navy, and Airforce members.

Way wrong here, 30% of Americans don't have an IQ high enough to pass the ASVAB. Add to that all of the soldiers who are serving for the GI Bill benefits. I would bet the average soldier has a much higher IQ than the average civilian.

Just out of my platoon, of the guys I still stay in touch with, one guy has a M.B.A. from UNC Chapple Hill. One has a B.S. from the University of Cincinatti. My PS retired as a 1SGT then got his M.S. from the University of Arizona. I have M.A. and I am working on my M.B.A. The smartest of us died (he and the guy that got the M.B.A. read Finnigans Wake and understood it) so who knows how far he would have gotten in life.

you are comparing soldiers to the lowest 30% IQ in the country correct? that's not exactly a compliment to soldiers and it certainly doesn't prove me wrong. read what i said again. i never once said soldiers are stupid. I said many people join the service because they don't see many other opportunities for themselves. obviously there are many exceptions to this.

The SEALs are a very small subset of the Navy and Marines. I say this because a bunch of the Navy and Air Force jobs are technical. You don't learn to fight, just tinker or play on computers.

Fyi, the Navy is where 100 men go out to sea and 50 couples come back.

You said they are not typically the smartest group.

No, the dumbest 30% of the U.S. population cannot pass the IQ test to become a soldier.

Naval and Air power is our single biggest advantage over other nations. To try and diminish these hugely important branches of the armed forces is nothing short of moronic.

you have a very basic comprehension problem. "not the smartest group" means they are not in the top percentile IQ wise in the US. you then immediately prove my point by trying to compare them to the lowest IQ group of people in the US. have some coffee or something. Jesus.

I don't think we are connecting on this argument. Either I am not understanding you or you are not understanding me.

Yeah you are right. I should not underestimate the physical might of Air Force and Navy soldiers. In your hypothetical room full of Army, Marine, Navy and Air Force soldiers, it's the Air Force and Navy soldiers the teacher should be intimidated by.

the bottom line is this guy wouldn't speak like this with the Military in his face. that's my point. he talks tough with a group of kids.

sure the Marines and Army in general are better physical fighters than say the Navy or Air Force. that's not really the point.
