Crazy how people think. Even if it's just for that emergency situation she's not even willing to simply learn.

Police can't always get to a situation on time. They respond as best they can but that may be 5 minutes too late.

I think the ability to know how a gun operates should be included in some level of the school curriculum. I own a gun but I never respected how much damage it could do until I shot one at the range. Whether it be to disable the use or to use one for my own defense, it’s a huge skill to know. Kind of like know how to drive a stick (shift car).

i've said it before but take someone that absolutely hates guns. have them sit in their living room and have someone break into their house and point a gun at their family. if you could freeze time in that moment and ask them if they would like a gun to at least have a chance to defend their family before they are all shot and killed I can guarantee in that moment they would take the gun. if they wouldn't well they are absolute morons and clearly don't care if their family lives or dies.

i'm not saying you have to be pro gun and be a cheerleader for them. but put yourself in the scenario I laid out above and ask yourself honestly what you would do. to absolutely refuse to even understand how a firearm works just in case of that potential emergency is insane to me.

The probability of the average person being a victim of an armed invasion of their home is so vanishingly small and so much smaller than say, being in a car crash, that they'll be far, far better off spending their time taking lessons on evasive driving and bad weather driving.

Nobody is denying that it happens. But it's a question of probability. Arming yourself to protect against a home invasion is a solution in search of a problem, in my opinion. Everyone is free to do it, of course
