  • Most Powerful Rocket In The World Launches Today

Liftoff window begins at 1:30 p.m. ET.

On Tuesday afternoon, a rocket the size of a 20-story building, containing 27 engines and a cherry-red Tesla Roadster as its payload, is slated to lift off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will be the maiden flight of Space X’s Falcon Heavy, the most powerful rocket to launch in 45 years.

Launch pushed out to 1530 EST due to upper level wind shear. Launch window closes at 1600, so unless everything clicks, it will probably be a scrub for today.

                Spectacular.

I didn't see reports on whether the main booster landed on the ocean platform or not. Waiting to hear on it. That's the only thing right now stopping this from being a 100% success. Sill amazing though.

Yea SpaceX silence tells me it probably failed and Musk wants to announce it.

Still amazing and 90% success out of a billion things that could go wrong is amazing. They will just learn more from that last 10% and make it better.

The center core was only able to relight one of the three engines necessary to land, and so it hit the water at 300 miles per hour. Two engines on the drone ship were taken out when it crashed, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said in a press call after the rocket launch
