i watched a doc on the wall and how it slowly evolved from a basic fence was barbwire to concrete walls with with a sand trap in the middle that slowed people down and made it easy for the turrets to get them with the Russians equivalent of the M60.

there were people who made engine powered hand gliders to fly over the wall. some people got over using ziplines between buildings etc..

the handglider thing was crazy, they took huge risk and went back and forth to get all there family members.
