  • Big Cypress tree

Ran across this tree turkey hunting the swamps this weekend. I bet that old timer could tell some stories...

Look at the Cypress knees sticking up..they were huge too. Pretty sure it would take 4 guys with my wingspan to wrap around it.

That thing is massive. How tall do you think it was? I have some big old oak trees around my property but nothing like that!

              yea that's a monster.

i've seen a few massive red woods out here but I still haven't been to the actual redwood forest up north where the real giants are. apparently they are the largest living things on the planet. most are like 400-500 years old. just think, they were already 200 some years old during th revolutionary war. blows my mind.

Go to the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. It's about a 4-5 hour drive from where you are. Absolutely amazing.

Redwoods are pretty old. I think bristlecone pines are older. The oldest one, somewhere in the Sierras, is over 5000 years old. Crazy.
