    This was dug in the early 1800s. It was a way for farmers to get their crops to sav from inland to the port for sale and shipment. They had mules on both sides that would pull the barge loaded with the goods 16.5 miles to the savanna river.

    cool shit.

    i see people just walking around looking at a historical site but it seems to me they are just viewing it as it as ruins. i visualize and try to understand how it was, what life was like, how it smelled etc.. i feel like i get a better understanding that way.
