  • Had to put my old buddy to sleep today.

He was almost 15 years old. Got him in January 2004. His back legs had gotten so bad the past week he could no longer walk. Also had issues with controlling his bladder and stuff like that. Last night he was just suffering really bad and I just couldn't put him through it any more. To keep him around longer would have been selfish of me.

I have no regrets though. That dog has been coast to coast and everywhere in between. Spoiled as hell and always loved. I treated him better then I do most people to be honest. Lol.

Anyway, it's hard but at the same time I'm happy that he's no longer suffering.

Dang bro that sucks! Hate that part of having a dog but 15 years is a long time for a boxer.

I just had my guy at the vet a couple weeks back. His back legs are starting to have some issues. When he walks his back nails are starting to drag. At times has issues standing up on hard surfaces. Do you know what was causing your pup to have leg problems?

not exactly sure bro but I believe it's the hips not the knees. his legs started going bad exactly as you described though. dragging his back feet.

Sorry to hear that my man. However, it sounds like you gave him a great life.
Just picked up my English Mastiff, Moose, this week. She is 8 months and already 80 pounds. She'll be a beast for sure.

Sorry to hear, B! I know how much you loved that guy. Does your other dog miss him, or go looking around the house for him?

                    thanks everyone. appreciate it.

scrum, shes not acting different yet. i think it may be because the last few years he's really aged and they didn't really play much. he was kind of the old man that sits in the lay-z boy all day and she is a little Tasmanian devil so they really couldn't do anything together.

anyway, for the first time in a long time he's no longer in any sort of physical pain. that's what makes it easier to deal with for me.

                      So sad brother, so sad.

I remember when I had to put rado down. I never have asked about it due to the severity of this emptiness I had; rado was LIKE my best friend. I know the attachment you had with that pup, man I'm so sorry bro, I really am.

                      Wow....I can't believe I'm reading this.

                      He's at peace bro

Damn dude...so sorry you have to go thrunthis. My girl put down her male Sheppard in Mar and it killed me cause I couldn't be with him at the vet. I only knew him about 6mnths but he became my boy instantly.

Don't know how I'll handle when her female goes eventually. I love dogs more than most ppl.

Aww. I’m sorry for your loss B. Your love for your dogs is your only redeeming factor. It’s hard to put down an animal but realizing how much pain they’re in, whether it be physical or mental from not being able to get around.
