Their new ad. I mean really?? Did he really sacrifice EVERYTHING?? lol How many millions you think he's making on that ad? So many better choices when wanting to honor someone for sacrificing everything. Men and women that lay their life down for this country. They gave the ultimate sacrifice. Honor them!

apparently the commercial that airs tonight is really good despite the controversial figure in it.

i think nike stock might be a smart buy right now if you are only looking at it from a money making opportunity.

I have respect for those who served in the military, but the notion that they are the only people sacrificing anything, or that their sacrificees are the only ones worth anything, is ludicrous.

I never said they are the ONLY people. Curious who you think of first when you hear that someone sacrificed everything?

Lot of people. Military, certainly. Doctors who serve with Doctors without Borders overseas instead of a cushy practice in a nice city. Dr. King and other activists who have protested injustice at great personal risk. And yes, sports stars that are willing to give up what they have worked all their lives for, to support a cause they believe in.

Rado, I invite you to make a thoughtful point that doesn't rely on a random meme.

Scrum, I agree with almost everything you said. Dr King gave his life. The men and women in the military that gave their life protecting us. They gave everything! I guess my definition of everything is different than yours. Giving up an NFL career and having millions of dollars to me is not even close to the definition of everything.

And scrum even though we may disagree on certain things the way you handle yourself when you respond says a lot about your character. You're a good guy!

Thanks, Chadd! I make no bones about the fact that I am a liberal progressive, more or less aligned with Bernie, although in a lot of ways, I am further left than he is.

I guess our disagreement is more on perhaps the definition of what it means to sacrifice everything. I view the term less literally (i.e. sacrificing one's life) and more figuratively. To me, when a person, it could be a musician, an artist, or an athlete, anyone who has worked and sacrificed and dreamed all their life to achieve the summit, but are willing to lose it all for the courage of their convictions, to me, that's also sacrificing everything. Yes, they are not risking their life literally, but when their identity is so wrapped into what they achieve, giving that up is similar to losing everything.

I know I don't see eye to eye with some, maybe many, people here, but I almost never take it personally or hold grudges.
