I guess our disagreement is more on perhaps the definition of what it means to sacrifice everything. I view the term less literally (i.e. sacrificing one's life) and more figuratively. To me, when a person, it could be a musician, an artist, or an athlete, anyone who has worked and sacrificed and dreamed all their life to achieve the summit, but are willing to lose it all for the courage of their convictions, to me, that's also sacrificing everything. Yes, they are not risking their life literally, but when their identity is so wrapped into what they achieve, giving that up is similar to losing everything.

I know I don't see eye to eye with some, maybe many, people here, but I almost never take it personally or hold grudges.

Don't view everything in terms of money. I am sure he has enough in the bank from his playing days to live comfortably (and good for him). When you are an elite artist or performer or whatever, having your passion taken away from you is a profound loss, akin to sacrificing everything. I wouldn't sell that line of thought short.

I still don't understand how some people think kneeling in a peaceful protest during the National Anthem is disrespecting veterans. The USA symbolizes freedom and in that the right to protest.

Most Veterans (myself included) have no problem with people using their constitutional rights to protest or stand up for their beliefs. We put our life on the line to preserve FREEDOM.

I don't think any veteran has a problem with that. No one will argue that. But 100% of the veterans that I know have a problem protesting during the national anthem. I'm sure some veterans will not care but the majority of them do. This says a lot.

Well the Marines that I know don't care. But Marines are a little more thick skined than the other branches. :)

The Army is the pinnacle of excellence!

I have a couple close friends that were Marines and they both support Kappernick.

All my buddies, except two, that I served with or are friends with locally either support Kaepernick or don't care one way or the other. It's the dumb rednecks I know that didn't serve who are in outrage.

I guess you don't know a lot of people then. This upsets a lot of very well educated men and women that I know. Including the president of the company I work for. Sorry they don't fit your stereotype of dumb rednecks. If we're going to stereotype then I would have to throw you into that category as well.
