Desire 12-11-03
Gossamer sightings of you in my mind
Softly stirring my emotions in kind
Blue skies above, a warm breeze at my back
A smile breaks loose, my mind losing track
Of why I am here, I can’t quite remember
My last thoughts were cold, the month of December
Flowers in bloom, colors alight
So brilliant, so lovely - a visual delight
The trees are full, leaves burden their boughs
A songbird sings for the passion he knows
Once we were here, together, this place
Laughter we had, a smile on your face
Quickly a breeze carries your perfume
Passing my soul, leaving too soon
Suddenly tired, dimmed and teary
I find a bench, my legs growing weary
I close my eyes, hanging my head
Trying to recall the words you had said
Faint they are now, I can still read them completely
Deep in thought, my hands folded neatly
I sense you beside me, suddenly, without warning
But deep in my heart, you have been there since morning
I entered this place, a place we had cared
For one another, for love we had shared
I needed to see you, again feel you near
No other place could I go, none other but here
So I sit on this bench, alone, but yet not
My brow furrowed, deeply in thought
I imagine your words, your soft gentle touch
Both caressing and loving, never too much
Lips of soft velvet brush against my own
I open my eyes but the moment has flown
I look to the sky, now cold and so gray
December has come, for me it will stay
The trees are all barren, the flowers are dead
And every single day, here I am led
As I stand to look for my tracks in the snow
Following a path, that only I know
I look back again, once more at our place
And I know tomorrow I will again see your face.
For that is the nature of love's hope, its fire
Not even winter's heart can quench its desire.
