It is more less a habit. Actually more like a trend. A lot of the older members were doing it, and it just spread. Now its just a habit. An this board is a lot more sophisticated than A. com

The swing's awesome! I brought it home for my husband as a surprise right after we moved into our new house. We'd been interested in it for a while but didn't want to spend the $ on it. To make a long story short, Stromba says it's the best money I ever spent. :D

If you have an electronic stud finder it'll help you locate the center of the beam to hang the swing from. The first screw we got into the ceiling was not in the center of the beam and when Stromba got in to give it a quick test he fell to the floor...that was when I went out and got the electronic stud finder. The swing has been up for about 3 yrs. now and the hook has never had a problem since then. I got another hook to put up in our bathroom...I wanna be able to look in the mirrors watch. :D
