  • Anyone know how to get rid of these computer spiders?

Hey my computer has been running very slow and keeps just shutting in certain web sites or programs! Someone told me its full of these spiders! I'm not really sure what they were talking about I don't know much about computers. Can anyone help my computer is a dell 500 with windows 98 if that helps!:(

Try this...while you're in your browser (Internet Explorer) click on Tools, then on Windows Update. You're running an older version of Windows that probably needs a few upgrades and you can d/l them there. That may help.

You can also defrag the computer but save that for before going to bed because it'll probably take a few hours if you've never done it before. It'll reorganize the files so that your computer will run more smoothly.

Download Adware Pro 6.0, it sounds like you either have a virus or there is adware running in the background of you computer. The adware program will find most of the adware and remove it. If worse comes to worse you can just reformat it if you don't have that much saved to your hard drive.

AdAware or spybot (or, even better, both) will seek out and eliminate these programs. Also, make sure your antivirus is up to date, and to a complete scan.

spybot is better than adware, but both should do the trick. I would also recommend check disk usage and make sure you have adequate free space. Also more memory should help due to the fact that you are probably running low which would cause things to slow down considerably. And what version of windows do you have 2000 or XP? If it is XP and a bootleg be careful because you have to actually activate that with Microsoft after you install it. Unless you have a volume license edition or have searches through the cracks for it.

Watch out for those Microsoft F****ers! I had an upgrade version of Windows 2000 (from Win98S/E) and I did a Microsoft Internet Explorer update...I rebooted as was advised after the update and Microsoft sent a file to corrupt my computers boot file. They claimed that it was their right, as it was not a licensed version- yet it really was! They suck :madfu: I could not recover my files and ended up having to do a complete reinstallation of Win2000. Make sure your O/S is a licensed version or else don't do the Microsoft upgrades. Good luck.
