Who here is sick of hearing about Michael jackson in the news. I couldn't care less about this fruit and it seems to be all the media wants to talk about.

I want to see the police get him for this. I heard that there is DNA evidence of his on some of the boys pajammas. If he really is doing this to these boys he should rot in jail for it. Any other child molester would.

Six companies own approximately 1/2 of all media in the US today. As big money corporations basically own the media, it has become standard media policy to cover mediocracy as heavily as possible. This fills up time that otherwise might be used to inform the public about the actual workings of our government, our economy, health care & environmental issues, etc... Basically, news today is not really independent information anymore, as much as it is corporate interest promotion. The newsroom is now the same as the boardroom because the mainstream media would not report anything that would hurt their parent company's bottom line. If they did, the editor gets fired and replaced by a new one who tows the corporate line. Business is business, and the difference between winners and losers is profit, whether you are selling nuclear power or ads on the network news. So they feel that it would be insane, not to mention bad business practice, for the corporate owners of the mainstream media to restrain themselves from using all of their assets to promote their financial well being. Editorial content must coincide with the interests of the parent company- it is OK to broadcast if it doesn't hurt the parent's image. This "non-objective" reporting serves to shape our political views, spending habits, and so on to benefit these entities. The fluff stories (Lacy Peterson case, Michael Jackson's pedophile stuff, Saddam's capture progress) are all just a distraction to keep our minds off of this stuff. Out of sight, out of mind. It's like a big shell game. The fluff will continue...
