Problems with these forums.

I havent been able to enjoy SM very much lately. It loads slow at times and often it won't allow me to post. I can click on a section link and nothing will occur. I will wait and click repeatedly and nothing happens way to often. Often the text on the forum home is stretched and choppy.

Before you ask if its on my end, it isn't. I make use of many (25+) forums and this is the only one that has any ongoing problems. My system is super fast as is my connection.

I just thought you might want to know so you maybe it could be fixed.

Its the opposite for me. This is one of the only forums that is ever prompt to load.

how many programs do you have running by the time you get to here?

occasionally its slow if there is a heavy amount of traffic, but all in all the site is problem free

The site works fine for me except when I don't allow the pages to fully load and I click prematurely, then the screen locks. I just go back to my homepage and then come back here and it's fine. It only happens to me on this site. This never happens to me at work though so I know it's my computer at home. Liquid, try going a little slower in your clicking, maybe you have the same problem as me.

1gig ddr400
radeon9800pro
audigy2 thx
raptor 10,000rpm 37g HD
enermax 550psupply
running XPhome sp1 w/ IE6.

Literally I can run a video game (cstrike,EQ,MW4,BF42) and open as many other programs (IE, Word, Office, WinMX, Winamp) and still continue to do things. Even though it does get a little slower the more I run, I still maintain a very high productivity curve.

But when I come here, the board is very close to what Ms Puddles described (as such, Im not the only one). However, sometimes it never fixes itself. It will take time to load and get sketchy. No other board has this issue for me, and even though 5000 people is a fair number it is one of the smaller boards that I frequent with a low amount of traffic as compared to many others.

The thing is, is often I come here and it won't open the forums. or it won't allow me to post. (similar towhat Ms.P touched on) So Im trying to work on my options. My first was to let you know what is happening.

When I get the chance, I will hook up my AMD2500 and try that. But, Im pretty positive of what the outcome is going to be, which is why I did not do that first.

EDIT 1/8/04: I did not want to bump the problem to the top of the page, so Ill just add this edit. Thanks again for the feedback, I will try to hook up the other machine by this weekend, sometime. Yes Ms.P what you describe is still similar, but not exact. Also my transfer times (speed) are marvelous. The only issue have at all is right here at SM. There is one other forum that has issues, but that forum is aware that it has problems. Thanks again.

the only problems i ever have here is when Keiser deletes my account - but i know that's only 'cause he has a crush on me! :D

that stuff all sounds so cool. I have a monitor, a keyboard, a tower and a printer and this board runs very fast. so maybe you are just overpaying or getting ripped off.

When you say it takes time for the board to load, do you mean like 2 or 3 seconds? That's what it takes for me usually. And by sketchy, do you mean the lines get kind of blurred or split up and repeated, especially after scrolling? On the main screen for me, it takes about 2 or 3 seconds and the page blinks 2 or 3 times until it's finally loaded. I just wait for that to finish before clicking anywhere or even trying to scroll or else it'll freeze up and I have to go back to my homepage or close out IE before coming back.

I've talked to the mods and admin. about this and so far no one else has complained about this. It's definitely something with this computer because, like I said, it never happens to me when I'm on my computer at work. Maybe we've got ghosts! LOL

Try going just a bit slower and make sure pages are fully loaded before clicking or scrolling and tell me if that makes a difference.
