Nightlife recommendations in LA/SD.

Going down to SoCal (LA & SD) this weekend to escape this shitty SF weather.
Any recommendations for nice clubs (with dance floor), bars, etc.
I'll be staying in West Hollywood area in LA and Mission Bay in SD.
