  • table manners

Hello, we at my parents eating dinner last night. My sister and her fiance were there too. I looked up and saw my sisters fiance totally cutting his meat wrong. I know I am pregnant and everything bothers me, but I couldn't believe that my sister has never said anything to him about this.

(He holds his fork in the meat like he is stabbing it and cuts with the knife on the inside of the fork.)

This guy isn't 18 either, he's 29! He's dated plenty of other girls and I'm sure ate dinner with them... I can't believe that no one has ever said anything to him about it.

Please parents, teach your kids the right way to cut their meat!

hmmm, i suppose sticking it with the fork lifting it up and just taking bites out of it would not be proper either?;)

nope, I didn't say anything to him... I did ask my mom if she ever noticed and she said yes and I asked if she had ever said anything to my sister and she hadn't. I'm sure Im not the first person to notice him struggling to cut his meat with his silverware.

Well there you go all this time no one has said anything to him because they thought the next person would. I think you should say something to your sister and then see if he changes

It's kind of difficult for someone to correct their flaws if they are not aware of them and/or nobody brings it to their attention. ;)

let the guy eat. I would be miserable in that environment, sounds like high expectations. I would also put my elbows on the table if I were him. :)
                :agree:

keiser, if a guy cant cut the meat on his plate, you'd notice. and if it was a guy from your work, he'd probably be made fun of behind his back. I don't want that happening to him.

well, it depends on what he does for a living. if he's not in a position that doesn't demand that he socializes for work, it shouldn't matter to anyone but your sister. so if she hasn't corrected him by now, it must not bother her.

I have seen guys do that in restaurants, I agree it's a little funny. But if that's his worst quality so what.

It's more important for a lady to know how to handle her meat, don't ya think?:D

Yes, that is bad table manners, but Ive never heard anyone complain of something so miniscule.

is this a joke?? As long as the food goes into the mouth who cares. not to be a prick but this stuff kind of ticks me, who says there is a right way to eat food. High society? if you have a preference to how you cut the meat by all means go for it but leave other people alone unless they are actually throwing food at you.
