  • Anyone Else Pull Way Back From The News Recently?

I used to be a big news person. I'd read tons of articles every single morning. But lately it is just nothing but one horrible story after another. Can only read so much of that shit before it starts to effect you.

I'm also sick of every god damn commercial on TV reminding me of covid or black lives matter etc.. this shit is pounded into our brain every time we dare get online or turn on the tv. I won't even mention fucken social media where every dipshit has some hateful opinion be it left or right. If I hear one more fake fuck company say "we are with you" or some dumb shit like that again I'm gonna explode.

Fuck all that. Books, history documentaries and nature shows for me. I'm too high strung to deal with all that poison.

By the way, Aerial America on the Smithsonian Channel is the single best thing on tv by a fucken mile. Show will chill you out like no other..

Mother fucken gym better open soon. I'm getting angry....

Yes I have pulled back to brother. It’s not news anymore, it’s drama, hype, hysteria & propaganda! Their feeding shit to the sheeple & they eat it up!

It is a historic moment, where a nation, actually much of the western world, is having an honest reckoning, uncomfortable as it might be, with the skeletons in its closet.

Thing is scrum it's a bit fake.

For example you do realize more whites are killed by cops then blacks right?

Second point. This dude absolutely didn't deserve to die like he did... BUT uplifting him as some sort of hero isn't right either. You ever seen the record on this guy? Broken into a women's home and put a gun to her pregnant belly.

3rd point. The narrative of making police the bad guys as a whole is dangerous. Your about to see a whole new level of crime in America if this "movement" keeps going...

          Conflating two different things.

US police kills way too many people. The numbers are off the charts compared to other similar countries. Sure, that needs to be addressed.

But the fact is that people of color are killed for innocent things, for no crime at all, or a misdemeanor at best, at far higher rates than whites. They receive much harsher punishments, and laws are set up on a way that disproportionally affect them. Stop and frisk. The ridiculously harsh sentences for crack cocaine versus powder cocaine. The list goes on.

Anyone who things the justice system is not hopelessly tilted against POC is either ignorant or wilfully blind.

Scrum would you concede that most black people think police kill them much more than whites? I think they'd be shocked to know more whites die at the hands of police.

The reason I bring up that specific point is because they call it "black lives matter" as if many more blacks are killed at the hands of police.

We are in agreement about most of this. I'm just talking about points within the argument.

They call it "black lives matter" not because they think only black lives matter (the common argument from the "all lives matter" crowd) but because of the callous disregard for black lives for seemingly benign offenses).

i don't think anyone is saying that more blacks are killed by police. I've never heard that argument. The focus is that POC are disproportionally likely to suffer a violent outcome for benign or low level issues than whites. It seems like black lives have less intrinsic value at the hands of LE, hence the slogan.

I don't watch the new like I used to. I do enough to stay informed but its brief.

more great news first thing in the morning i see yay! fuck sake. country has gone to shit since trump took over. bring back Obama or even Bush. i'll take 95 year old Jimmy Carter at this point holy fuck. hell biden is only a few years younger than Carter LMFAO lets give his old ass a shot. nobody can divide the country worse than trump has that a fact.

to the republicans and right wingers here, let me say this. i'm not against you. matter of fact i tend to lean far more in your direction than I do the liberal lefties. but guys come on.. trump is no leader. he's handled covid and now the riots like an absolute finger pointing clown. he thinks he's a President like Reagan but he isn't. he's woefully unqualified for the job. he over promises and under delivers. i'll gladly take Reagan back over this turd. it's not about left or right. fuck the left, fuck the right, just bring the country back from the brink and lead before this shit is unfixable.

oh i do scrum. i think the average person in america if asked would assume more blacks are killed. i think you'd be really surprised. the educated people you'd probably be right but lets face it we are not a country of mass education. the average person does very little research or fact checking of their own. the average person in america will simply go along with whatever narrative CNN or Fox News pushes.
