Hot shower, Exfoliating, Aveeno shaving cream, and Tend Skin aftewards works great....
No matter what, back when I used to shave my legs, the hair on the back part of my leg would also cause MAJOR discomfort as it was growing back in... Don't know why and nothing ever helped that area so I just stopped shaving my from my knees up and now just use a buzzer and get as close as possible....

I mentioned shaving irritation when I was at the dermatologist and they said that using a single blade razor will help. Multiple blade razors pull the hairs out so that they cut below the skin surface, therefore causing irritation. Single blade razors won't tug the hair out like that but you also won't feel as smooth. For people prone to irritation, try using a single blade.

The hair on the back of your legs and inner thighs grows in different directions than the rest of your leg. If you want to try shaving again, get a mirror and pay attention to the way it grows and shave with the grain, not against, this should help.
