anyone hear have ever had or know someone who had pancreatitis? (inflammation of the pancreas)

i was diagnosed with it a few months ago, had pain in my stomach area and unhealthy looking shits. it's really uncomfortable so decided to finally see whats up.
i don't know anyone personally who has had it, so i would like to talk to someone who has gone through it. i've done some research on it and it sounds like it could get real serious.

I don't know alot about it but I know it can cause serious pain and ultimately your pancreas is part of your detoxifying system. You need to stress it as little as possible, DO NOT DRINK! and read up on diet, I would think lots water helps but check and keep an eye on that thing with regular checks

I have a VERY close friend who has had this a few times. His is from drinking alcohol. The doctor has told him he needed to stop or its going to kill him.

Pancreatitis is no joke. Very serious issue, and you should monitor what you drink.

I fully agree leave the alcohol alone.

thanks for the replies. apparently the 2 main causes are gullstones or heavy drinking, and i went for some tests and it turns out i don't have gullstones. so i guess it might be from alcohol. i'm only 25 but haven't drank much for over a year and completely quit drinking for 2 months. i'm getting blood tests done frequently to keep an eye on it.

i'm getting this fucking shit taken care of. annoying as hell and it ruins my whole morning every day because i feel like a bag of shit

the symptoms vary. for myself, i've been having upper back pain for 2 years and only found out a few days ago that this is a common symptom of pancreatitis. every single morning about half an hour after i wake up (doesn't matter whether i eat or not) i get a sharp pain in my upper stomach just behind my lower ripcage, no appetite during this time, no energy, just feel like total garbage. that lasts for about the whole morning, than towards the end of the morning my colon area (bottom part of my stomach) will start to feel gassy and bloated and painfull which last for about an hour from all the undigested fats that didn't digest properly from my pancreas. this happens every single morning until i take a shit. now the shit itself is nasty which my big reason i realized there was something wrong. light brown looking mud that looks like olive oil was poured over top of it. apparently my body doesn't digest fats very well which is why it's so oily.
after my shit, i usually feel pretty good through out the day. i still feel the pain slightly below my ribcage, but at least i can function properly at work for the rest of the day.

i'm going to the doc monday, so hopefully he can tell me something on how to cure it. i'll keep you posted

Sounds like you have gall bladder issues. The shits you describe sound like bile salts passing.

Get it sorted out ASAP. Nothing to fuck with at all, it's a nightmare to treat once it gets out of hand and in many cases ends in death.

i went for an ultra sound to see if i have gull stones but it came back negative. i'll see what the doc says tomorrow and go from there. thanks a lot for the responses. this is making me quit anxious since the deeper i read about this, the more serious it sounds. i only have access to a computer on the weekends so i'll let you know how it goes next week

so i went to the doc monday and he doesn't know what the cause is yet. he's sending me for a ct scan, possibly a colonoscopy and maybe stick a camera down my throat. he didn't sound to sure what he wanted to do. he's sending me to someone else who knows more about it. in the meantime he gave me a scrip for navo-rabeprazole which is helping a lot. i still experience some pain in the mornings but not nearly as severe.

i'm going for another check up in 3 weeks.

as for my diet, i'm cutting out pretty much all greasy foods, but not fats all together. i eat a lot of almonds and that doesn't seem to effect me. i was told to minimize my fat intake so would that mean fats in general being good or bad fats?
i don't think i could completely cut out fats

dude i feel for you, pacreatitis SUCKS ... my pacreatic enzymes were 3 times what they should be once... had to go to the hospital .. how did your blood work come back ? usually pacreatitis should go away.. the inflammation .. i have problems with my stomach too ... just had a CT of the abdomen and I know what you are going through as far as waking up feeling all lethargic .. I would have the blood work ran again... you mentioned you eat a lot of almonds..is he sure this isnt diverticulitis ? because even litle seeds like sesames will kill ya if you have that... the stomach actually attacks them and has major problems breaking them down so almost would be a long painful digestion
