Fuck my knees just hurt every time I squat now. It's getting to the point where I truly can only do light weight and moderate reps. I have to warm up for a good 20 minutes on the bike, leg extensions, etc. in order to even be able to do an air squat without collapsing.

It seems like they are just getting worse, but its more of a constant dull pain rather than an injury. I am taking fish oil and glucosamine/chondrointon. Not sure what else to do at this point. Is it worth going to a doctor and getting it checked out?

stop doing squats for a few months and change your leg workout.

hack squat machine is one of my favorites.

I have knee problems too man my grandfather had both of his knees replaced. I have to be careful with squats or any kind of leg exercise. Take it easy if your knees are bothering you is my advice

I have also noticed that when walking, running, etc my knees come slightly inward. I know my squatting posture and form is good from the side, but I wonder if the knees might be coming in a bit as I come down. I imagine that could possibly be an issue.

guess you dont want to hear what will fix the issue.

stop squats for a few months and issue solved.

Sounds like your knee problems are really affecting your quality of everyday life, leave alone your ability in the gym.

Have you considered consulting a specialist? I had some knee problems a while back when I was running a lot and I went to see a specialist who was the team doctor for the local pro soccer team. Someone like that rather than your GP/internist would be a good bet since they work with pro athletes and are familiar with weight training, sports performance injuries and issues, etc. Find out who the team doctors are for your local pro sports team - I am sure they have a practice other than their team gig and you can get an appointment to see them.

I suggest you lay off legs for a couple weeks, take fish oils etc. When you start back do leg press to 90 degrees after you done extensions for 3 sets

YOu muscles are most likely unbalanced if your knees are in that much pain and you are relatively young as I believe you are.

First thing I would do is increase the flexibility in your hamstrings/hips/ adductors. I would also warm up with some pelvic thrusts (floor bridges) to activate your glutes before squating.

my knees are absolutely wrecked from squatting day after day for football in highschool and it all was for fuckin nothing man. My left knee in particular is always fucked up - it sucks because it means i have to train legs much higher volume than I'd prefer rep wise.

Went to the orthapedic center yesterday. Found out I have tendonitis in my right now. That makes sense because laying off on squats, fish oil, glucosamine, etc. was really not helping. Got some anti inflammitories and I start physical therapy next week. Hopefully all will be back to normal in a few months.

Good call. For complex joints like the knee and shoulder that are easy to screw up, a specialist is always the best bet.

laying off an exercise is the first thing you would do for tendinitis since its an overuse injury... where is it the patella tendon? did he give you naproxin (alieve)@ 500-900mg ED?
