  • borderline diabetes?

At some point early this year I've noticed that if I get jammed up at work and my second meal of the day is delayed by an hour or more, I get shaky, my skin gets ice cold feeling especially around my scalp, and I get a little light headed. No history of diabetes in my family.

I used to use insulin back in the day, but nothing for the last 8-9 years.

Any caffeine? could be that. i think we have all gotten a little shakey at some point if we dont eat. only way to be sure though is see a doc.

How many carbs have you had at that point? Low carb can make you hit the wall. I used to feel that way when I was doing carb cycling.

I drink coffee in the mornings, but have done that for years. Carbs? I had waffles and a protein shake at 4:30am. Felt weird about 8am, but I normally eat at 7am....

Also if i eat carbs at night right before bed, I sweat a lot.

Fuck it. Maybe I will just see the doctor.

waffles? really bro. feed your body shit like that and its no wonder.

try this for a week and see before going to the doc. eat a slow burning fiber/carb like oats mixed with a banana and honey. have it with your protein shake. see if you feel the same way.

waffles are nothing but processed shit and i know you put syrup on em. they spike your insulin levels quick and then have nothing else to offer in terms of energy.

switch to oats and see if you have the same issue.

No bro. They are my version of waffles. I make with oats, pb, protein, and egg whites.

damn, even got pb to slow digestion more and give a more sustained energy release. very odd that you should be feeling weird only 3 1/2 hours after eating a meal like that.

are you training after that meal? doing something to speed up your bodys desire for nutrients?

I hit cardio before I eat every morning. Or five days out of seven. That's the only thing. I've felt really cold lately too, old man cold- like get me a sweater cold.

Sounds like you ran out of glycogen. That's the exact symptoms - cold, feel like the world's closing in, feel faint, etc. I have felt it when I carb cycled after one of my depletion workouts.. also when I didn't have enough to eat and had a particularly strenuous rugby practice. Not sure why this would happen in your case though.

If you get the symptom again, get it checked. Did you feel sweaty when this happens? My mom is diabetic and sometimes her morning fasted sugar levels drop way low, like 60-ish. She always feels sweaty when that happens and it is pretty much a certain signal that her blood sugar is low.

I'll check on it. My wife could be poisoning me too.

My wife got me a kit and I've been testing it ed for the last three weeks. My sugar has been as low as 56 in the morning (60-65 usually) and as high as 93 after a meal.

Im going to the Dr about it soon, and see what he says. I don't smoke anymore, and I only drink a cup of coffee a day. I also make sure I eat complex carbs, protein starting first thing upon waking. And being very careful with diet, I have minimized my reaction to whatever is happening.

Dipping into the 50s is low... you'll start getting sweats right around there. You should get it checked by a doctor. Show him/her your sugar monitoring records.
