Rest and PT. Have you seen a therapist about it? You absolutely need to eliminate all movements that give you discomfort and start specific exercises with the aerobics dumbbells. Swallow your ego and go see a physical therapist who is trained in the field. There are no shortcuts, no quick fixes for tendinitis. And before anyone says it, cortisone shots are not a cure.

I've had to get cortizone shots on my right elbow and have not had problems in about 9 months. But now my left one is starting to hurt worse than my right did before. The forearm straps are mildly helpful but from all that heavy weight you have been pushing for years, I'd imagine yours is worse than mine. 800mg ibuprofen, ice 10 minutes, massage 10 minutes, ice 10 minutes,etc.. really helps (temporarily) relieve some of the pain. Time off is the only thing that truly allowed my right elbow to heal though.

^Agreed completely. You can control it with cortisone and anti-inflammatory meds, but if you want to fix it, you've got to give it rest, then work on the supporting muscles with specific exercises (kinda like the rotator cuff exercises) so that you emerge from it with a healthier elbow.
I am not sure how it works in the UK, but ask your doctor for a referral to a physical therapist. It really is a different field and you need to find someone who has training in PT.

I wear a brace and ice mine all the time. You may need to modify your movements and find exercises that hurt less. I had problems for about a year and a half, was starting to workout without a brace again, then did something stupid at the gym and had to start my treatment all over again.
