  • How much are my arteries blocked

Seen a few in their 40s having stents and shut going in. What is the best way to find out what's going on inside you.

Seems to me that cholesterol , blood pressure and heart rate is a crock of shit as a marker these days.

Best way to find out is a stress test with echo cardiogram with contrast. They check the blood flow of the heart of course but also main arteries going to the heart. Size, shape and function of the heart. You'll get a solid idea of what's going on with the ticker after that.

With the contrast they pump some fluid into your iv that shows up on the ECG so they can visually see the blood flow.

chuck answered it and you didn't acknowledge.

i'm simply pointing out something you've always struggled with that relates to this thread. consistently eat clean especially foods like oats that are proven to bring down cholesterol and you'll be less worried about dieing.

but you keep eating your pork pies.. porker.

            Let me tell ya something

Guy I knew and liked, personal trainer. Not the bodybuilder type more fitness although he did lift some. Ate a perfect diet didn't smoke, meditated etc etc

Dropped dead last yeat before 50 of a major heart attack. Cause: blocked artery

If he had known a simple stent would have saved him.

Yes but the point us if you have no major symptoms, how do you know?/find out?

It makes sense to get checked out so I'm gonna look into it

Nobody does an echo just for the hell of it. But Chuck's right - that's your best bet if you really want to know. Doubt your NHS will pay for it though if you are asymptomatic unless your doctor seems you are in a high risk category.

I bet your friend had a genetic problem Mr I. I bet his father or grand father died young from a heart attack as well. So yes, if it runs in your family then it makes sense to take precautions. But if you take care of yourself and don't have a particular genetic history I really wouldn't worry about it. That's just me. Genetics really are everything. Those 100+ year old people you hear about who smoke daily, drink daily and eat a lb of bacon a day.. pure genetics. A person with poor heart genetics tries that and they have a massive heart attack at 45....

So the real question should be.. do heart problems run in your family?

My grandfather was the only person that I know of in my family that died of a heart attack. He was 88 though so that doesn't really scream genetics to me, just old age.

Chuck and scrum thanks and that's my point scrum. It seems that the only real way to appraise your arteries accurately is with a method that is not usually offered unless you are showing notable signs of an underlying problem.

That asymptomatic state howevery is exactly that of my friend that then died, from blocked artery
