  • The longer you use opioids, the greater the risks—and the risks rise fast.

The longer a person uses opioids, the greater the risk of forming a deadly addiction. But just how long does it take to switch from being a short-term user—say, while you’re dealing with pain after a surgery—to a long-term, potentially problematic user? A few weeks? A month?

According to a new study, that transition could take just a matter of days.

That's nuts. A 20% chance of addiction by day 10. Fuck those things. They write those scripts out with no restraint either. They wrote a script for that shit when I had my tooth pulled and I never filled it. One day of needing an ibuprofen is all it took, no pain really at all and they want to give me narcotics? Fuck that. Whenever anyone in my house gets them I control that shit tight and it goes way underused.

You want to see a good documentary check out Prescription Thugs. Done by Chris Bell the guy that did Bigger Stronger Faster. He did it from his brother "Mad dog" dying from OD and he got hooked on them himself. He shows how system is pretty messed up.

ya word is never more that 20 days but if this graph is legit looks like 10 days. I know 500 people full blown addicted to this. its a ruthless drug and IMO should be taken off the market but the drug companys run shit so ya it wont go anywhere.

I knew a handful of people/friends who went on them and I stress the word "knew" because they turned into zombies with no life in their eyes after awhile.

What I think is ironic is cannabis has been proven to reduce opioid use but the states with the highest opioid deaths vote for elected officials that are anti-cannabis, except for Nevada.
