:agree: I see what you're sayin'! I actually wanted to get my highlights to be silver/gray but they couldn't figure out how to do it because my hair is so dark! I guess I will have to wait for old age to do it for me!

to do that they need to bleach your hair white and then put the silver color on top of that...

I've had real red highlights and that's what they do , I've also had blue ones a long time ago. In order for those colors to show up, they have to get rid of all the pigment in your hair (bleaching it white), then when they put the color on it takes. If they were to color that red on top of brown hair it wouldn't take at all because brown has tons of pigment. It's so freaky to see yourself with white hair....
