Calories. .and you only get fat if your metabolism is sluggish. .I diet on 3500 cals per day so bulking takes at least 5000 . ..

So in the off season I dont have to eat clean aslong as I get a targeted calorie, protein, carb intake? Reason why I ask is I am hearing and seeing all this BB when they bulk up they eat shitty, then all of a sudden I see them 4months later cut as hell like you. Let me know bro.

yup i believe that, because i have a very fast metabolism. So i could eat fast foods and workout without gaining fat, but if i dont do shit, i gain but steadly. So i must be active..

U look awesome CG.:) very inspirational

All AS assist in protien synthesis. Making more muscle, burning more calories.

That is how a lot of guys do it. . .some are like Jay cutler though and just eat clean all year round but really jack up the calories with clean carbs and fats. .. I find it hard to do this though as clean food just is not as calorie dense. . .

Thanks bro for the info. If I want to compete at 210-215 contest weight at 5'9.5'' what would be a good off-season weight?

If you have not competed before then get bodyweight out of your head.. ..shoot for a general area of weight but you might find it surprising how much fat you have to lose and how light you have to get to be really shredded the first time out. . .don't be the guy that is like 300 in the offseason and is a fat lump onstage because he is scared to be "skinny". . .I hear so many guys saying stuff like "but I am 275 etc. in the offseason and pretty hard. . ." it means nothing until you diet. .so just train hard, start your diet 20 weeks out REALLY slow the first time and take it slow and easy. . .the slower the fat loss the less muscle you will lose and the bigger you will be onstage when it comes time. . .After you have done a show you will then have a better handle on how you react to diet, cardio etc. ..
