  • Too much fiber?

Can you have too much fiber? I've been getting about 50g/day and its runnin' right through me....:dunno:

yeah, you can have too much fiber, but it's only really bad for you over the long run. over time it can lead to iron depletion in your body, as well as several other minerals that cannot be absorbed (they often take longer to be absorbed than other nutrients do) when they're flushed through so quickly. 50g doesn't sound like too much to me though, offhand i think i remember the RDA being ~30g/day, so it might be other factors. take some acidophilus to replenish your intestinal bacteria colonies (the good ones used to digest), or eat some yogurt which has the same. if it doesn't go away and keeps up, see a dr., in that case it's probably some other more serious factor... either that or you're eating taco bell... no wait... taco bell would never have that much fiber : )

if you suddenly increased to 50 g from a much lower amount, that could do it. Drop back the amount and then slowly increase it.

what about having around a cup and a half of oatmeal a day, along with supplementing with psyllium seed at night to slow the digestion of whey protein before bed?
