  • Chest flyes technique

When i do chest flyes on a flat bench with dumbells, I find that i can get much more stretch and feeling in my pecs at the bottom of the movement with a weight which is about 1.5kg lighter on each side. My form doesn't suck on the heavier weight though, so its not a case of whether i can handle it or not. So, do I stick with the heavier weight, or go with the lighter weight? I also get some shoulder pains at the bottom of the movement sometimes, hope this is not something only I experience.

You might be straighting your elbow too much on decent. Which also with lighter weight you feel it more in your chest, since it's lighter on your shoulders and biceps you use less of them in stabilazation and more of your chest.

It sounds to me that you need to round out your arms a bit more.

Visualize hugging a really really fat chick! Ha ha ha ha just kidding :D :D

Seriously though, a long time ago I had this same conversation with some friends of mine and then we remembered a scene in Pumping Iron when Arnold was doing flyes. So we watched and tried to do them exactly like what we saw in the movie.

Look unt du vat da Arnold dose, unt ten du it like him, ya?
