  • Ammonia

I'm on a low carb diet (2000 total cals, carbs are 140 G (28% of total calories). After I exercise, I smell a strong ammonia odor. I've reserarched this and found that its due the nitrogen in amino acids ... my body is burning protein for energy. However, I can't find any authoritative opinion on whether this is bad or not.

Some say it's just the protein that's been consumed during the day. Others say it's muscle. Any thoughts?

    its ketosis more than likely.

iyour body doesnt store protein as protein, it stores everything as fat, carbs or protein or fat, that is the only storage. If your burning protein during a workout just add a small gatoraide for enough carbs to get you through (25 grams i think)
If your really that low a good hard workout like leg back or chest should make you feel like shit (hypo)
