  • What Am I Doing wrong now?

Ok so here's some input to get you guys informed.

About 4 and a half months ago... I started to diet. I was 5 8" and now I just turned 18 years old and weighed lol (280 pounds)... Im now down to 182 (So basically I Lost 100 pounds.). And Im working my way to 150. I look great in clothes. But when I take my shirt off I see this damn stomache and i have some fat around my chest still. Most of it went down in both areas. Im loosing some faith but I will stick to my diet intill im totally healthy looking. If there are any food improvements or suggestions please tell me aswell because I dont care if you tell me to eat a raw pepper cause there is some stuff in it that could be acted as a great supplement. I'll eat anything I dont live for taste any more. One of the things that made this weight loss possible.

My Current diet plan is as followed...
I wake up for school although its ending now at 6 and I eat a Balance bar. At Lunch time in school I have low carb wheat bread with 2 slices of turkey and water. (I only drink water). I then go home relax w/e and then go biking the reservoir. It has alot of uphills and a few downhill. All together I Bike 15 milea a day. Some days I jogg for 25 mins when Im sick of biking. I make sure to have fluxation some jogging and some sprinting / running upping the mph on the tredmill. I usually have no off days unless I have plans to go out with some friends and then I make sure I dont go off my diet one bit.

At night. I do some stretches that I used to do in Gym class. Don't know if it helps but It's better then sitting doing nothing and having the urge to eat. (Note I eat when Im hungry... so I dont starve myself I think that's one of the main problems why I came to be so Huge... Didn't know when to stop). I then do various types of abdominals for lower mid and upper abs. Takes me about 25 mins to perform it all. I do leg raises cross knee crunches reverse crunches regular crunches and a few others with minimal rest in between. Every night. I got this information and picture diagram from Men's Fitness.

What Im asking is... Ive came along way. And My stomache has went down so much. But If I stick to eating like this and do my abs is there any hope for a flat stomache? Ive seen posts (not on here As of I just joined today) About how people have been doing abs and all this stuff I see commercials too on how nothing works. I dont know what to do. Im not looking for a quick solution. Ive been fat all my life and ive done something about it. I just need to tone up and not have any extra/loose skin. Is this gained by dieting very good and excercising every day?

Any Advice You can Give me Regarding my questions / info would be awesome. Thx alot :)

Nice work on losing that much weight!

The stomach is most peoples problem spot. I have a few thing that should help you out.

    1. DIET this is the big one. you dont need to starve yourself to get a flat stomach. So my first piece of advice is to get your diet right. If your going to eat a big meal do it early in the morning, a balance bar isnt going to cut it. Dont eat when your hungry. you should eat 5-6 meals a day I'd say adding up to about 2200 cals a day. fat is stored energy, and if you have a consistant energy intake your body will realize it doent need to store enery as fat.

    2. WORK OUT do you know what your heart rate is while you are biking? are you just stoling around or are you bustin balls? ask anyone here THE ONLY WAY TO GET RESULTS IS TO WORK AND WORK HARD. biking is a good start but you should check to make sure you are at the heart rate you should be like 140 BPM. you also should do some accual ab workouts. tone muscle burns more fat than not tone muscle

    3. BE REALISTIC you might never look like the abercrombie guys and if you lost 100 pounds there is a chance you might have some extra skin and no amount of work will get that off.

to sum it up its gonna take work, work on your eating habits, excersise, and life style as a whole. your looking for a quick fix and really there isnt one. i hope some of this info gave a little help. get back at me if you need any help or have more questions

Well I do ride my bike for miles on end the the hills there kill me I do make sure to keep up a very quick pace and find my self passing people twice before they finish the reservoir. Ummmm With the eating 5-6 meals a day That's where I get lost. Ive heard it all before but I dont understand why you need to eat that much. My actual stomache shrank im guessing because that balance bar is a struggle to finish. My lean cusines after eating one i wanna throw up im so full. So eatting more is scary to me. Should I cut down what I eat and just eat more meals? I have this calorie calculator thing online. It says for biking both mountain / bmx at 182 pounds and 1 hr 30 mins spent riding that's my avg time although every week it usually goes down a min or 2... I burn over 1000 cals. I love riding and I find Running boring on the tredmill I like being outside but running outside is ridiculous cause I dont like running as much and on a tredmill you can choose the speed. I know for a fact I'd jogg / run then stop as soon as im tired but on a tredmill the fact that you cant just stop without shutting it off or getting off the thing is more of an inspiration and keeps you on it. Can you just inform me more about the 5-6 meals a day and should i get down my regular meals to fit that in? Im still loosing weight so is the 5-6 meals necessary? OR is that just another method you gave me which seems to be simplier to loose the weight.

break up your divide your 3 meals in half to give you six so you eat smaller meals all day. one reason for 6 meals a day is so that your body will not store energy in fat. there is no reason to beacause you allways have some coming in. here is an example: say your a teacher and you get paid only when school is in sesion, you have to save up your money in the bank and a little extra if anything might go wrong. If you got paid threwout the year you wouldnt have to put so much in the bank because you know how much and when you get paid at all time.
well that was kinda a kindergarden view of it

Congratulations on your weight loss, but that was a lot in a short period of time. You lost muscle along with the fat. It is going to be hard to keep that off unless you throw yourself into exercise things. Weight lifting will build muscle and muscle burns more calories. In otherwords, a 200 lb muscular guy can eat more than a 200 lb fat guy. The small 6 meals keep your metabolic rate higher digesting the food, thus burning more calories. Frankly, losing that much, that fast, you are going to be up against it trying to keep it off. 95% of the people who lose weight fast, gain it back. The 5% who don't, begin to exercise. Give things time, work out with weights, get enough protein, drink lots of water, 6 small meals and in about a year your body is going to have changed so much for the good. A year is not that long and the lifestyle change could become fun. Good luck.
