  • loose skin

Hi... Just joined a day or 2 ago and have some questions. Those who have answered me you have my blessings.

Im not sure if I really have loose skin and if I do how bad it is. I lost a hundred pounds but all during that I was working my abominals. IT seems to be a little loose but not drastically. Is this because of working the abdominals?

Will doing abdominals every night intensely help? Im not too sure and Ive come far and for months ive been doing and seen my stomache area go down but I dont want to have alot of loose skin what can i do to prevent this while on a diet still. I want to loose about 30 more pounds... at 5 8" / 5 9" im 182 My goal is 150 If i get to my goal and keep doing abdominals month after month while sticking to a non fatty diet will this help tighten any loose skin i have or gain along the way? Thx alot and if you come across a picture can you put it up here I mean when i think of loose skin i picture like pinching your skin off far from ur body like disgustingly like. Cant do this it might just be my fat ass stomache I still have... It sure is mushy guess I gotta loose some more wieght... ahh idk please help.

it'll tighten up to a certain extent. after that i believe a tummy tuck is all that will help. but in no way should this discourage you from working harder and harder to reach your goals. keep at it and get to your goal weight and see how much more will tighten up. go from there.

Loose skin is better than tight skin while ur "fat" ;)

U can tighten up a bit, and once u hit a wall and it doesnt seem to get any better, a small tummy tuck to get rid of it 100%

Hey bro. . .loose skin will tighten. .just give it time:)
also, looking at your post I see you are not short. . .5'9 is a good height and you will be a stick at 150. . .you should be focusing on eating more protein and good fats now and not doing calorie restriction... .hit the weights hard and get your muscle mass up. at your height a good solid 175-180 is a great build for picking up the women:D
        keep it up bro!

Yea i was fat all over basically. Only thing i need to loose from is my stomach n a little from my chest but that would be from actually hitting the weights. But thx for the input and encouragement heh If you say loose skin will go away give it time then that's great. Took me years too get fat and if it takes me years or some time to be fit then that will do. I just was thinking even if i did watch my fats and did 25 mins of abs a nite for months on end even a year i would still improve nothing. Thx alot.

Along with a 100 lb weight loss comes loose skin. Sure, it'll shrink back to a certain degree, but with that much of a fat loss, it's going to remain loose in certain areas, especially the mid section. A tummy tuck will tighten up the stomach area, a full tuck will tighten the skin in the stomach and around to the lower back, a doctor will be able to tell you which is right for you. As for other bodyparts like arms, upper back, chest and legs, just fill them in with muscle and the skin won't be loose anymore. It'll take some time but you've got the rest of your life to keep working at it!

The heaviest I ever was was 158, and have gone down to 131 as of today. I feel as though I may have some loose skin in the abdominal area as well. Are certain people just prone to it, is it my imagination, or is a good portion of it water?

GT- seeing as how I probably don't have as much looseness as Juka, you say it takes time. How much time?

Red, usually within a few months your skin will tighten back up. Your looseness is minimal and will likely come back naturally, keep in mind, you lost your weight very quickly.

How much elasticity your skin has is based on heredity and age, more so on the age part. As we get older, our skin just isn't as elastic. If you're very young, in your early 20's, I'd say you'd be able to lose at least 50& of the loose skin as it reshapes itself. If you are over 30, you'll probably need surgery, and even if you are young, and don't want any saggy skin in your tummy area, surgery will be the only way. BB

I have a good friend that gets really big in the belly during the offseason. .and I do mean big. . he got up to 285 at 5'9 and a lot of it was in the stomach. .he had loose skin his first show but after he held his weight down for a good year it tightens up. be patient (It sure sounds like you have patience so keep it up) . .and also don't do so much high volume ab work. ..do some weighted ab stuff with lower reps and not as many sessions. ..max of 2-3 per week so your abs grow. . that will help to tighten them up as well. Overtraining abs can make them shrink up and therefore your skin will be looser in my opinion. . .:)

So it would be better to do 2-3 sets of low reps weighted for my abdominals hmmm thats a relief cuz i go to the gym about 3-4 times a week i can space it out between them ? This is good news i used to do every day wondering if i was really over working em i guess iam i dont really have loose skin yet i see a wrinkle by my lower stomache by my waist but idk if thats all then im not to scared.

Look at some of the world war prisoners and see what they look like they have restricted calories excessively without any exercise and i don;t see any loose skin. I'm sure some of them were quite bulky.
