  • Good Fats?

Hey I got some advice that I should slow down on my diet. I'm basically 5 9" like 5 8 and 3/4 but im 180 now and My goal weight was 150. I lost almost 100 already and i was going to keep going to loose this stomache I have and a little from my sides still. I heard I should increase my calorie intake now and start eating good fats ? Is this true? And if it is and will help me loose more of that body fat what are they and what are some of the common foods that contain them and how are they identified? Thx alot guys.

There is research that shows we need adequate omega-3 fatty acids (3 FA) in our diet. Most of us get enough omega-6 fatty acids, but lack the 3 FA. These 3 FA are important for many aspects of our health, including building muscle. To complicate things slightly, the two types of fatty acids should be in a certain ratio, but, realistically, the most practical way to ensure enough 3 FA is to take fish oil or flax oil. I take fish oil capsules and consider it a must have supplement.

looked it up. And read this article how carlson's fish oils are really beneficial but are like 24.95... Is there anything else cheaper that can be helpful? in the article it says very few fishoils are of good quality and lack alot of the benefits you take them for.

You can buy fish oil concentrate capsules at Walmart pretty cheap. I think it is ony 8 bucks for 120 caps.

Yes, there are such things as "good" fats and for weight loss or muscle gains, they are essential. Fat is burned in a fat furnace, so by eating "good" fats, our body can burn fat easier and more efficient.

Before you look for a pill, why not try eating fish 3 times a week. This is the natural way of getting good fats omega 3 & 6 fatty acids from the fish oil. Also, try marinating and cooking foods with olive oil, and eat more nuts and peanut butter. These are all good sources of "good" fats. Fish oil caps tend to make people burp fish all day long - they did for me and few of my clients.

The fats you want to stay away from are the saturated and trans-fatty acids. These are found in a lot of products, so look out for "Partially hydrogenated" and any palm kernel or tropical oils (coconut).

Like THERM said, eat at least 3 portions of Fish per week for your protein source including trout, macrel, salmon and tuna this will provode you with good sources of protein and will also provide you with all the EFA's that you need. If you stick to the good complex carbs that i advised in your other post and high protein foods like chicken, turkey, and lean red meat as well as the above fish you will avoid the "bad" fats.
