  • Diet whilst taking a break from training

My question is this: When taking a break from training for a week or two, how should you change your diet, if at all? Obviously, whilst training you have a high protein diet with moderate carbs if bulking. I am bulking at the moment, but i am trying to be careful so that I know what I put on is muscle and minimal fat; hence for a person not on the juice, 1kg a month is good going if that gain is purely muscle.

But when you are not training, surely all the extra calories you take in, whether protein or carb just gets converted to fat stores. Does that mean its better to convert to a normal diet when breaking from training, or carry on as normal? How do you all modify your diets?

I would keep your protein intake high, your muscles actually grow whilst you are resting so this is an ideal time to give them a chance to repair themselves, because of this you want to keep providing them with the protien to do so.

If you are worried about fat then you can drop your carbs slightly, if its just a week i wouldnt worry to much about it though.

If your trying to stay lean while taking a break from training for a week, I would eat as clean as possable. Clean protein sources, complex carbs, sugars in the morning, fats from nuts and olive oil etc.
