  • 30g Protein Myth or Fact?

I recently read that your body can only digest 30 grams of protein per meal sitting, so I'm guessing like 1/2 hour. Is that true, or what? I'm reading a shit load of info on how recipes that are like 65-70 grams of protein but wouldn't that be a waste of protein?

Myth. There is and never will be a set amount that one can digest in a sitting and anyone who tries to put a single number on it is an idiot, or works for Biotest, well same thing.

Dr. Nick Evan's book "Men's Body Sculpting" pg. 67 "Finally, the amount of food your intestine can digest and absorb in one sitting is limited. For example, your gut is capable of extracting only 30-40 grams of protein from a singl meal of solid food. If you consume larger meals, tbe excess nutrients may pass through without being abosrbed, going to waste." I noticed he said "SOLID FOOD" so does that mean anything blended can have an unlimited amount of protein? I'm a little confused. Anyone with any real good info. feel free to reply! I'd appreciate it.

Yeah, I see what your saying. I guess it just depends on your size, and what your body is used to. Thanks for the insight ;)

i find that when using protein shakes, if i've taken in more protein than i can handle my body lets me know, play it by ear (or nose...)

Depends on the person. To many factors play a into it. Genetics, AAS, Slin, GH..

You can get an idea about how much of the nutrients are being absorbed by looking at your turds. Floaters are good. Sinkers are bad.

I'm going to go with GT here and say that it depends on your body. A bigger guy is going to have a higher protein requirement than a smaller guy, so naturally, his body is probably going to absorb more protein to meet that requirement. I think it's more of what your body will absorb in retrospect to how much it thinks it needs rather than how much it can actually digest. Look at guys who are on slin. You can't tell me that only 30g of the 60 are getting stored away.

I didn't read all the replies but just remember that anything not used most likely will go to fat. I usually don't go over 50grams per meal.
