Soy is advised for women going through menopause because it helps boost natural estrogen levels. In other words, soy is great for women and bad for men. Also, soy is very high in oxalates which cause kidney stones in people who are prone to them. People who are predisposed to get kidney stones should not consume more than 10mg of oxalates and 1 cup of soy milk has 340 mg. I've had three kidney stones and I do not want gyno so I avoid soy like the plague.

Can you please post studies backing up this information. I can post studies that dispute everything that you just said. Actually, in a nutshell, the Isoflavones in soy called genistein and dietzein, actually bind to estrogen receptor sites and block estrogen. These isoflavones are found in alot of estrogen blockers that you can buy at a supplement store to use if you are concerned with possibly having too much estrogen from using anabolics or prohormones. You see, soy is adaptagenic in that it can either raise low levels of estrogen such as in menopausal women and then it can also block bad estrogen from pollutants in the environment and from anabolics. I have never read one shread of evidence that suggests soy is linked to causing kindney stones. That has not been proven. How many asian people do you see running around with cancer and kidney stones...not many...they are some of the healthiest people on the planet and its partly because of diet in that they consume quite a bit of soy based foods from ealry ages.

Unfortunately I received some free hand outs from a doctor I no longer even see when I had my last kidney stone (1999) and I cannot find them. The basic message was soy is great for women, men who are not prone to breast tissue, and for people who are not prone to kidney stones. Since I cannot locate the hand out I attempted to go online and find links that support what I posted. I actually found conflicting information on the effects of soy on estrogen levels. I posted one of each. On the other hand, every site I found about soy and kidney stones was consistently arguing that the oxalates in soy produce kidney stones. Hope this helps. Here they are:

                Be careful

About a year ago, on the advice of my doctor, I dropped cows milk for Soy Milk.

I found that after ~ 9 months I had a constant pain developing in my nuts, and had totally lost my sex drive..

I got off the Soy Milk, and now I'm almost back to normal. IMO, Soy Milk is nasty shit, and a serious health risk for men due to the estrogen.

One case does not make a scientific study, but I won't touch it again.

The plain Silk brand soy milk is very tasty. Better than the vanilla and lower in sugar.
