  • tuna shake

    Tried a tuna shake the other day (2 cans tuna, tomato juice, splash skimmed milk loads of hot sauce and some pepper) went down quite well, dont think the guys in the gym liked the tuna burps though.

    definately a good post though

            wow.. and i thought 30 grms a protein a can, 0 carbs, .5grm of fat, and 150 cals was good...

                  I think he's saying it's a "shit load" of protien, meaning a lot....But what I want to know is, how can you stomach that shake?? Do you hold your nose, chase it with something else??

                    That shake sounds like something that would be on Fear Factor-theres no way I would drink that without being forced to do it.

                      Well from what I have read and heard, tuna is poor quality protien in the sense that it lacks certail essential/branch chain aminos. in other words its not a "complete protien" source.

                      Its like eating baken beans on their own, or a bag of peanuts, if you read the label the stats look good in terms of grams of protien, but your not getting the right essential and branch chain amionos to optimise muscle growth, for that you need to add another source of protien with it.

                      thats why vegetarian bodybuilders must mix beans with pulses to get all the aminos they need. When you hear the experts say you need 1 to 1.5grams of protien per lb of bodyweight they really mean "complete protien".

                      Tuns is a shit source of protien, compared to complete protien sources like casienate in dairy, or other meat sources like chicken, beef, pork, eggs.
