  • MRP options

I used to recommend Optimum Nutritions Optipro MRP for people looking for a high protein, medium carb drink. Tasted awesome and had a decent nutrient profile. Optimum has discontinued this product apparently! Anybody have any recommendations on similar great tasting MRP options. My brother is picky about the taste and doesn't want to take the time to mix his own MRP drinks.

    The one you make yourself:

    15oz milk (or water)
    1/3 cup crushed oats
    2 sccops natural peanut butter
    1 tablespoon fish oil
    2 scoops whey powder.

Simple, inexpensive and the ingredients can be manipulated to achieve the right macronutrient ratio for your perspective goals.

ITs actually pretty good tasting, much like a Reese's peanut butter cup...

Check that link again-it's gone now! I think everybody that used to carry it is basically running out now. Some places have the vanilla, which I've never tried so I don't know how it is.

Yeah, I have that in vanilla and chocolate but it has a lot of sugar in it, which I wouldn't recommend for him since he's trying to cut before he bulks up. It definitely is a good tasting MRP/weight gainer, though!

Please expound-I assume you mean because the carbs are almost all sugars?

All commercial weight gainers are a joke, youre simply paying for a bucket of maltodextrin. Sure youre going to gain weight, but look out, more often than not its going to be fat.

What do you guys recommend then? I just use it maybe once every couple days when I'm hungry between meals. It's cheap, it taste good, and as long as you're not using it as your primary calorie intake.....then I don't see what the big deal is about.

It tastes good because its pure sugar.

                            I recommend:
                            15oz milk (or water)
                            1/3 cup crushed oats

                            1 tablespoon fish oil
                            2 scoops whey powder.
