Carbs are still carbs regardless of the time they are eaten..............they do not turn into anything evil that will make you obese.
As long as you don`t exceed your allotted amount of carbs per day,it matters not when they are eaten.
All this "Don`rt eat carbs at night BS is just that.......BS.
Set an allowed amount of carbs that works for you and eat them anytime you want...........they should of course,be from clean sources only...........not crappy junk food!

Many people don't exert the same amount of energy during 7pm-12am than they would earlier in the day when they have work/cardio.
Meaning it's unwise to eat carbs later in the day that most likely won't be used for energy purposes, but eventually stored as fat. If I alotted myself 120 carbs per 24hrs and had them at 10pm right before I jumped into bed, that energy would be wasted and probably go right to the ass.
After your PM workout have a sensible amount of protein (10oz chicken) and a small serving of complex carbs (banana), just don't overdue it.

While I find this thread comical for the random insertion of unfounded information, I find this one quite comical. Banana's are rich in FRUCTOSE, which is primarily used to fill liver glucogen, NOT muscle glycogen. A banana post workout is like sucking tit through a sweater. Can we all check our information before we post it? This shit is getting old.

You may think it works for you but that doesn't make it good information. I think people need to backup statements with logic or at least qualify info with disclaimers that "it just works for you". I agree with YJ--some of the bad info posted over and over gets real old. If only people read up on their stuff before they posted!

i have a feeling im gunna get hounded for this but: personally, i think post workout shakes get way more credit than they deserve. I always have one, but at times when i cant for whatever reason, i dont notice a difference at all. Obviously its key to get protein in your blood asap after training, but i have used both fructose based carbs and glucose based carbs in my post work out shake, and didnt notice a difference between the two. I think your PRE workout fuel is what mainly determines your energy level during training, not what was in your post work out shake yesterday.

Sorry but I'm not gonna hound you! I agree and disagree. I disagree that they get more credit than they deserve. In terms of muscle growth, I think they can't get enough credit-getting fuel to the muscles ASAP is extremely important. In terms of workout energy, that is definitely much more based on the meals leading up to the workout-not a meal 24hrs earlier. However, the levels of glycogen in the muscles will affect the endurance and level of performance of the muscles which is due to numerous factors, including meals over periods over 24hours.Originally posted by Jordan

Dude, you are psyko! I need at least 8hrs of sleep or I'm screwed. I know the thread seems to have gotten jacked but I would combine some high and low GI carbs. I would combine both dextrose and maltodextrin with your protein. I would just consume less carbs overall than if you were eating during the day.Originally posted by psyko1
