  • hungry after meals

for some reason i can eat a a good size meal consisting of a high protein source(chicken, beef, ect.) and some veggies and maybe a potatoe or something and be full for about 20mins then i start to feel hungry again. the only way this doesnt happen is if i eat a really fatty meal. can anyone tell me why this happens?

Well, you are skinny right? It would only be a problem if you were overweight and hungry.

Calculate your BMR and caloric intake, you may/probably do need to eat more often.

Do you only eat 3 times a day?
Are you eating low glycemic carbs? Oatmeal, Wheat bread, Brown Rice, Yams.

Because pasta, white rice, and white bread will leave you feeling hungry soon after.

Fat does help you feel full longer. I wouldnt eat fatty meats (clog your arteries) even if your skinny. Instead skinless chicken breasts, egg whites, fish, turkey breasts, and extra lean beef. I would use Olive, Peanut, or Seseame oil while cooking. This should help you stay full. Many ppl take 1 fish oil supplement tabs 3 times a day with meals.

You may not be eating enough. Like he said.

NYCMitch is right on. Don't be afraid of fats-just make sure it's healthy fat and low GI carbs. Potatoes (white, russet, idaho) are high GI--replace with sweet potatoes/yams.

If you want more help calculate your BMR and post your diet and we can help more--it sucks to be hungry all the time!!
