I am trying to help my dad lose about 15lbs in 8wks. I know the basic principles of nutrition and diet, but are there any special rules for older people. Obviously, age goes into the calculation of BMR but is there anything else I need to know for a diet for an old man (~60yrs old)? Thanks!

The first problem I see with your plan is the time limit thing. 8 weeks isnt very long and for an old man can be dangerous to do anything drastic. Give him more time and focus on clean healthy foods. Try and cut out the crap that the body was not designed for. Im sure that alone will let him lose 15lbs.

i bet he drinks tea filled with sugar? i just assume most people do, i used to love it but once i cut that out i wasn't keeping track of my stats day by day but my skin noticeably tightened a good bit
and all the old people in my family love sugar and salt, they'll cover some green beans in salt, layer them things
