  • Ultimate Diet 2.0 Nutrition and Results

I'm on my second week of Lyle McDonald's Ultimate Diet 2.0, and it seems to be yielding results. Nevertheless, I hate full body workouts and I was wondering if his approach to training the whole body is valid or viable.

Anyone else on UD2 right now? What are your feelings about the whole regimen?

in the context of the carb-depleting/super compensating goals of his plan, full body workouts are not only viable, they are the only option (as lyle fully explains). working out every body part 4x a week isn't a favorite of mine, but as you've already seen, his diet/training works. just remember not to go to failure on your sets until the power workout (if then even)...

by the way, i'm on it right now (i've done two weeks). progress-wise i like it. the hardest part for me is psychological. by wednesday, the lack of carbs makes me depressed and even though theres a carb up right around the corner i don't even look forward to it by that point.

one thing i've noticed about this diet is that a lot of the people who use it are not ready for it. Either they are too fat or they've forgotten to ever do a bulk and actually put on some muscle. these types see literally the most complex and 'sciencey' cutting plan they've ever born witness to and immediately think thats the best route for them--its so difficult, it must be the best.

I totally feel you. Come Wednesday I am absolutely raging. I can hardly think. And post Tuesday workout I felt like I was hungover (I wasn't).

But today is carbing up! Amazing. I've been doing lots of bagels, waffles (w. sugar free syrup), kashi cereal, etc. What are some tasty ways you get your carbs? Also, I've been gassing up a lot from all the carbs. Do you get that?

          yes on the gas...

My favorites are bagels (good bagels... not supermarket bullcrap), pancakes (again, good homemade pancakes, not frozen shit), french toast, those honey mustard pretzel 'nibbler' things, kashi tlc crackers, and crumpets.

I know that someone on this board has used UD2.0 with very good results. He did the full-body workouts and experienced a lot of the same feelings that you guys are expressing, but the results make some of the pain worthwhile.

glowalla, you're right about some of the wrong people doing it. This diet isn't intended for people with high bf% and I'm not sure you well it works for building lean muscle mass, but I'm gonna give it a try this fall or winter, so I'm sure I'll let the board know how it goes.
