I typically cut out carbs after about 5pm if not sooner.

Any type of slow-release protein before bedtime is ideal if you are trying to not only gain weight but also sustain muscle growth and recovery while sleeping.

Casein protein is the ideal bedtime snack, using either a casein protein shake or cottage cheese. I prefer cottage cheese.

Peanut Butter is also a slow-release protein but it has much higher concentrations of fat so I usually stick with cottage cheese in the evenings.

you even cut out carbs when ur bulking? i was cuttin so i do the same as you, after my 6pm post workout meal i drop carbs. now i'm back to bulking and i added carbs in my 9pm meal but my midnight meal is still just a blend of proteins, wasn't sure if i should add in carbs for that meal as well. in the past bulking for me meant i ate everything but i changed my lifestyle and i only eat clean foods. so this clean bulking is a new thing for me.

I always cut carbs about 5-6 hours before I go to bed even when I am bulking. I put on too much fat when bulking if I eat carbs any closer than that to bedtime. It's what works for me.

In the last 3 months I've gone from 5'8" 182 lbs. to 5'8" 203 lbs. maintaining about 9% bf (all natural). You have to find what works for your body but I can't stay clean and eat carbs after a certain point regardless of bulking cycle.

I would eat some egg whites and a ON protein shake.

I'm not very carb sensitive and I also don't gain very easily. I almost have to have carbs all the way to my last meal in order to gain weight. If you're trying to bulk I would try adding some low GI carbs into your second to last and maybe even your last meal to help maintain anabolic growth longer.

i don't gain that easily either. right now my second to last meal does have carbs. usually whole wheat pasta. only my midnight meal before bed do i cut the carbs, but i might have to change that if i don't grow.

I have a protein shake, usually muscle milk about an hour before bed time. I cut my carbs about 4 hours before bed, aside from trace carbs that are in my veggies. Of course I am leaning out right now so my carbs are pretty much non existant after lunch.
