  • How important is chewing your food?

    Is it important to chew your food many times when swallowing? Im not trying to be funny but im whole life ive been a fast eater. and Im wondering when im eating my eggs or tuna am I losing on some proper protein consumption because of this? :nerdnew:

    I've heard something like 28 times. I think that chewing that many times gives your saliva a chance to break down the food a bit before it gets dumped into the stomach. I don't know how that affects protein absorbsion.

        I have the same problem. I believe it makes digestion a bit more difficult, and most likely results in indigestion and improper absorption.

          navy seals say that you should chew approx 40 times each mouthful..i know in the naval academy you are required to chew a certain amount and i know its high...

            I burp and blow off all the time, that could be why, but I'm not changing my ways for any body, those things brighten my day up, especially when it makes other people grimmace!
